Philosphy of Care

Most people who reach out to us have already tried to figure it out on their own. They’ve read the articles. They’ve had the conversations that went nowhere. They’ve told themselves it isn’t that serious — or that they’re too far gone to be helped.

We started Hilltop because we believed something different. That the right support, at the right time, with the right people, changes everything. That belief shapes every decision we make — from who we hire to how we answer the phone.

We Meet You Where You Are

There is no version of you that is too complicated, too far along, or too hard to help. We work with adults who are quietly struggling and don’t know where to start. We work with families trying to understand what their child is going through. We work with athletes and men who have never seen themselves reflected in eating disorder treatment before. Wherever you’re coming from, we start there.

Specialty Care Isn't a Luxury - It's the Point

Hilltop is a specialty practice. We don’t try to do everything. We do a focused set of things exceptionally well — eating disorders, body image, and disordered eating across the lifespan — and we’ve built our clinical team around that precision.

Brian Pollack, LCSW, CEDS-C is one of a small number of male master’s-level clinicians in the country to hold the Certified Eating Disorder Specialist-Consultant credential. That credential requires supervised clinical hours, demonstrated expertise, and ongoing continuing education. It means something. Our team is held to the same standard.

This Is Not One-Size-Fits-All Treatment

Eating disorders don’t follow a script. Neither does recovery. Some clients do best in individual therapy. Some families need Family-Based Treatment, where parents become an active part of healing. Some clients need nutrition support alongside clinical work. Some need all of it.

We match the approach to the person. And when a client’s needs grow beyond what outpatient care can safely address, we say so honestly and help them find the right level of care.

We Take Men and Athletes Seriously

Eating disorders in men are underdiagnosed, underrepresented, and undertreated. Muscle dysmorphia, restriction disguised as discipline, overexercise framed as dedication — these patterns are real, they cause real harm, and they rarely show up in mainstream eating disorder spaces.

We built a specialty within our specialty for exactly that reason. Men and athletes who come to Hilltop find clinicians who already understand their world.

The Relationship is the Treatment

Technique matters. Clinical training matters. But the thing that actually moves people is feeling genuinely understood by another person. We don’t rush intakes. We don’t rotate clinicians. We work to match each client with the right therapist for them — and we stay connected as a team so no one falls through the cracks.

You Don't Have to Have It Figured Out

You don’t need a diagnosis. You don’t need the right words. You don’t need to be sure this is serious enough to deserve help. If something feels off – with food, with your body, with the way you’re moving through the world, that’s enough to start a conversation. The first conversation is free.

We'll listen, we'll be honest about whether we're the right fit, and if we're not, we'll tell you who is.
