At Hilltop therapy is another word for collaboration. With the right therapist difficult situations find their path towards ease as they become safely rooted in reflection. Approachable, and eventually tolerable. A place to initiate reflection. Working with one of our esteemed therapists one experiences tolerance, problem solving, discovery, situational learning, mood enhancement, even activation in the sense of value. Next steps, to help it all become second nature. Many find strength as they move forward and its HIlltop’s job to help every person work through their lives and hopefully never feel stuck again.

Calling a therapist and asking for help is no small feat. We honor every word knowing it wasn’t easy to get to the moment at hand.  Anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, shame, embarrassment, & guilt are just a few of the difficulties we hear. Tailored treatment that is not the same as every persn who comes to Hilltop. is the only way to heal. Our goal is to never leave anyone we work with feel misunderstood and all of us believe people come to therapy to be seen. With a truly inquisitive and open mind, Hilltop’s sophisticated therapists work in a way that safely investigates what’s going on with different events such as moments related to loved ones, work, education, relationships, community, societal demands, childhood attachment, and any feelings a person may find hard to get through. In order to make sure one is remaining centered and cared for, each one of us is constantly advancing our training, working to achieve continual mastery and keep up with best practices. We know that anyone walking into our office is taking a very brave step and hoping to exhale some of the most important parts of themself. Compassion, relational care, and continual collaboration are the hallmarks of our work.

We have had the honor to help everyone who walks in our doors. It’s incredible to see the change take shape as our clients begin to live the life they’re trying to achieve.

You can experience change and feel good!

Imagine being able to effectively manage stress, personal relationships, and difficult situations better. Our approach fosters a sense of calm that aims to center each person and move at a pace that’s comfortable. Both therapist and individual decides together how you want to approach each situation as it presents. With the help of individual therapy, we often find that what was once too difficult to think or talk about can become more accessible. It truly can be a self-enlightening experience.

What can I expect?

You can expect to work with a professional and expert specialist who has dedicated their career to working with the problem solving you seek. Respect and care, a safe environment meant for healing, and the opportunity to work in a way that feels right for you. We clearly communicate and offer insights as the process challenges participants to search through a reflective process, discovering meaning and eventual validation. Our role is to be with you in reflection through such experiences, implement treatment plans and behavioral changes that help aid your goals, and help transform from what once was stuck to moving more freely in the world and without mental health getting in the way. By ensuring self-empowerment through advanced evidence-based techniques you can gain strength and make sense of difficult situations.

Does therapy work?

Absolutely! It’s hard to allow the experience to evolve and progress naturally, but if a person can find how the process works for them, therapy absolutely works. Imagine embodying strength, resiliency, and accountability as you effectively solve problems and handle situations like never before.

You can feel like yourself again.

Specialty Areas

Eating Disorders

We specialize in treating individuals who struggle with a relationship with food and who may use unhealthy methods and behaviors that lead to shame and guilt surrounding body and weight. We help individuals who have difficulty maintaining consistency in their personal relationships and often food, body, and emotions get in the way. There are multiple approaches to treating eating disorders, including psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders (CBT-E), thought and emotion identification and regulation, thought defusion, exposure therapy (ERP), the development of effective behavioral skills, family-based treatment (FBT), mindfulness-based approaches (MB-CBT), somatic therapies, and more. Individual therapy utilizes these modalities and approaches. If you are ready to reduce stress surrounding food and your body, we can help.

We work with helping individuals who experience intense thoughts that feel impossible to slow down. When everything feels scary, we can help lessen the intensity of obsessions, panic attacks, debilitating self-loathing, feelings of isolation, and negative relationships. If you’re struggling with anxiety or depression, there is hope. Individual therapy can provide you with the skills you need to find a sense of calmness and freedom. You don’t have to live in a state of anxiety or depression. You deserve to heal.

PTSD and trauma can cause you to feel scattered and isolated. This highlights how difficult it can be to find connection when flashbacks and anxiety run its course and take charge of the situation, leaving those who struggle alone and afraid of connecting with others. This can be worked on and we do this at Hilltop Behavioral health in the state of NJ, near Summit.

We understand the complexity of trauma and the impact it can have on an individual’s mental and emotional well-being. We work with individuals who may be experiencing symptoms of PTSD, including flashbacks, avoidance behaviors, negative changes in mood and cognition, changes in alertness and reactivity, and feelings of guilt or shame. These symptoms can be overwhelming and debilitating, but taking that first step towards healing and working through the trauma is the key to finding strength and resilience.
